Jury Duty

Documents relating to jury service may be returned either by mail to P.O. Box 469, fax (706-647-8999), or by email (sasmith@upsoncountyga.org).

If summoned, your attendance is required by law herein fail not under penalty of law (pursuant to Georgia Law Title 15, Chapter 12). 

  1. JURY ALERT: Jurors summoned to appear on 9/25 will need to report for service at 10:30 AM.
  2. JURY ALERT: Jurors summoned to appear on 8/21 will instead need to report on 8/23.
  3. The final panel list for 8/21/2023 has been posted. Jurors summoned for this date will find their report time by locating their name on the list.

What should I wear?
  • Wear business casual attire, such as dress slacks or a skirt with a collared shirt or blouse. Avoid wearing overly casual or inappropriate clothing.
Can I bring my cell phone or electronic devices into the courtroom?
  • Yes, you may bring your cell phone into the courtroom. It will, however, need to be placed on silent.
What are the specific dates and times I need to be available for jury duty?
  • The specific dates and times for your jury duty will be provided in your summons.
Are there any exemptions or deferrals available if I can't attend on the scheduled dates?
  • Exemptions or deferrals may be available for certain individuals who meet specific criteria; check the instructions on your summons for details.
Will I be compensated for my time during jury duty?
  • Yes, you will be compensated for serving as a juror. The compensation is fifty dollars per day of service (reporting at courhouse). You will be paid by check and it will be mailed to you. 
Is there any parking available near the courthouse?
  • You may park in the First Baptist Church parking lot located on the corner of S. Green and W. Gordon Streets.
